About
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with an office in Santa Rosa, California. I love working with people and listening to their stories. I feel my purpose is to help people discover their authentic selves. With couples, I love to rekindle hope and build communication skills. I started my career working in k-12 schools in Marin. I continued to study body-focused therapy at the Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA. Prior to psychotherapy I worked at several non-profits supporting women and girls, and volunteered with AmeriCorps building youth leadership programs.

In Private Practice
A large part of my life has been in communities. I tend to study and practice with people committed to heartfelt dialogue and realizing human potential. With clients, I work to both uncover what got hurt and discover what is possible and positive.
In my experience, people can tell therapy is working when they feel more self-confident. Additionally, when clients begin to actively work through and integrate their past, I notice them feeling clearer about their choices, more hopeful about their future, more decisive, and experiencing less dissociation and depression. When individuals can develop the capacity to identify, express, and then move through their feelings without getting as stuck they have arrived at a new level of experiencing themselves.
In my life I have experienced a lot of relationship challenges and have suffered regrets, disspointments, setbacks and losses. And so as I sit with my clients, I know how tender life is and how challenging it can be to move forward. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I know how to sit with pain. And I know that sometimes, a little humor and a big heart go a long way.
Warmly,
Tamara
